Geoffrey Clifton-Brown calls for free and fair elections in Zimbabwe

28th March 2017

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown questions the Government about representations made to South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia ask them to put pressure on the Zimbabwe Government to ensure free and fair elections.

May I, too, on behalf of those on the Conservative Benches, pay tribute to my right hon. Friend for his actions last week?

Has my right hon. Friend made any representations to Zimbabwe’s SADC neighbours—South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia—to try to put pressure on the Zimbabwean Government to ensure free and fair elections?

Yes, we have done so, and continue to do so. I will be visiting South Africa in the very near future, and this will be on the agenda. We are also working with the African Union to place pressure on Zimbabwe.

DISSOLUTION OF PARLIAMENT

I’m not currently an MP, as Parliament has been dissolved until after the General Election.

Note that much of the content of this website was added whilst I was an MP.

Latest Newsletter

I would like to begin this week’s newsletter by offering my sympathies and condolences to all those involved and affected by last Wednesday terrible attack on Parliament.
